Our History
The Community Bank of
Northern Wisconsin is a truly family-owned and operated bank. With the exception of President and CEO Dwight Marquardt, the
entire upper management and board of directors consists of Gerber family
members. They have been in
the financial services industry since 1968.
The Community Bank of
Northern Wisconsin was originally chartered as the Brill State Bank in
the village of Brill in 1919. The leader of the founding group was B C
Leonard and he served the community well for 46 years. Upon his
retirement in 1965, his son Roger became the President. In 1994, the
Gerber family purchased the bank and they opened a branch in the City of
Rice Lake the following year. The charter was moved to Rice Lake in
1999. Since that time the
bank has grown to include offices in Ridgeland, Ladysmith and Spooner.
The name was changed to the Community Bank of Northern Wisconsin in 2008
to reflect the full range of its expanding service area.
CBNW offers a full range of
deposit and loan products. It has kept pace with banking technology in the form of internet
functions. Inclusive in its
consumer, mortgage and commercial portfolio, the Bank prides itself in
being the area leader in Agriculture related loans.
